Broadcast media have a critical role to play in
HIV/AIDS education awareness and prevention.
Top African broadcast leaders from more than twenty
countries today launched an Africa-wide action plan to step up the
media fight against HIV/AIDS.
"We are gathered here at the behest of UN Secretary
General Kofi Annan who in January 2003 launched a global initiative
to encourage media corporations to increase their contribution to
the fight against the HIV/AIDS pandemic".
